Inspiration

The T by Alexander Wang Resort 2018 collection is a redefining of the fundamentals. A sensual versatility in silhouette and material is balanced by utilitarian functionality creating a holistic cohesiveness to an everyday wardrobe.

Iconic pieces are transformed into covetable new shapes; a sleeveless jumpsuit and a crop top are done in fleece. The classic twist-front t-shirt is now ruched or pulled around the body. Layering and hybridization, key elements of Alexander Wang, are referenced in a slip dress with a built in t-shirt, a cable sweater woven into a zip-up hoodie, and a boyfriend jean with fleece-back patch. The subtle ease of lived-in hems is translated on knits and sweatshirts – more realistically on destroyed denim outerwear, shorts, and an over-shirt-as-dress. Signature hardware is subtle as O-ring waist ties and hook and eye closures.

The collection is an all-encompassing expansion of the Wang girl. The wide-ranged T by Alexander Wang collection bridges the vocabulary seen in the ready to wear line that incorporates day, after dark, and special occasion dressing while elevating details and materials with a hand-worked feel that gives the everyday an attitude.
